about

After laying low last year, BUFU Records is back in business in 2020 with a FIRE new split 12" EP featuring two of Miami's brightest lights, PALOMINO BLOND and LAS NUBES.

The record features two juicy tracks from each group, with Palomino Blond's frenetic clash of raw energy balanced with Las Nubes' melancholic dream pop-meets-gutter punk vibes.

"Demonize"
"Contrary to usual Las Nubes writing methods, the lyrics for 'Demonize’ were written first after watching '13th,' a documentary on the criminalization of African Americans and the injustice of mass incarceration. The riffs poured out shortly after." - Ale Campos

"Tararear"
"'Tararear’ began as the single intro riff and transformed into a Hum-worship song (the title is actually a Spanish translation of the word hum). The despondent lyrics came from free-associative wordplay at a rehearsal." - Ale Campos

"Seventh Heaven"
"'Seventh Heaven' is a moody crusher that has themes of personal connection, fever dreams, and ghosts. I wanted it to sound like you were in a big dark house while it’s storming outside, and you were convinced it’s haunted by someone you really don’t want it to be haunted by. The whole band shines on this track, it’s such a blast to play live!" - Kyle Fink

"Damage"
"I wrote 'Damage' when the first line, 'my thoughts, are they really so thoughtful at all?' came to mind and I just kept writing because it felt urgent. It was mostly me finally being honest with myself about how closed-off and kind of dishonest I was being about my emotions at the time. The tail end of the songs spins out into a guitar solo and dueling lead section that is always fun to play live." - Carli Acosta
